Local History Talk "The English Village from 1750 to the Present Day" In-Person

Villages in 1750 remained as economic units embracing both agricultural as well as industrial activity. The talk will describe village life on the eve of the industrial revolution. The impact of landlord embarkment and parliamentary enclosure and will illustrate how the industrial revolution heralded the emergence of the single purpose village. Village changes in the Victorian period will then be outlined alongside the rapidly growing urbanisation of English society and further industrial change.
