Local History talk "Brian Epstein & George Martin - the men who made the Beatles" by Bernard Nevin. In-Person
How did these 2 men, from different backgrounds in the entertainment industry, combine their skills and mould the raw talent in their hands into a band which would forever change the face of pop music and social culture in the 1960s.One was from a working-class background, the other from a more privileged family. This is the story of Brian Epstein from Liverpool and George Martin from London and the parts they played in shaping their futures and the futures of the 4 Lads from Liverpool. Looking at Epstein's desire to seek involvement in the entertainment industry, coupled with the skill of the classically trained Martin, this combination of the Entrepreneur, the Musician and the Band, provides a potent mixture which would ignite popular music and elevate it to previously unthought of acceptance. With musical excerpts of course!
