Crosby Library - Seeds, Berries and Storage Vessels: Foraging for Alexanders and Hogweed In-Person
Our third session of Seasoning with Hannah Fincham takes place in the height of harvest time. A flush of plump fruits and seeds means it’s time to get busy. Nutrients and flavour molecules that have now made their way through each stage of the plant’s growth have congregated in these little pods for picking, and seeds especially are where we typically find most of our spicy seasonings.
During this family friendly walk we will forage alexanders and hogweed amongst other seeds for their aromatics, while sea buckthorn and blackberries will bring the sour and the sweet. Tasters and examples of how these spices can be used in cooking will be shared as always.
On the next day we will be making clay pots for our library spice rack in Bootle Library, you can sign up to this event here.
